The Hartford Whalers  -
Bring 'Em Back!

The Hartford Whalers were an NHL franchise from 1979 through 1997.  Prior to that they were known as the New England Whalers and played major league hockey in the World Hockey Association.

The Whalers enjoyed strong fan support then -- and now.  With hockey legends Ron Francis, Gordie Howe and Kevin Dineen, the unforgettable "Brass Bonanza" and hockey's coolest logo, the Whalers made a huge impact on the NHL.

Is it just a matter of time before they return?

The Whalers Legacy

"It’s almost impossible for the young hockey fan who saw what the 1985-86 Whalers alone did in terms of bringing joy and excitement to Greater Hartford after one lousy playoff series win against Quebec to adequately explain it today.

For Connecticut it was incomparable. “Whaler Mania” was rampant, and most fans will likely tell you that the team whose roster included such notable coaches, broadcasters and agents as Ron Francis,Joel Quenneville
, Dave Tippet, Kevin Dineen, John Anderson, Ulf Samuelsson, Ray Ferraro, and Mike Liut was one Claude Lemieux Game 7 overtime backhand goal from bringing the Stanley Cup to Hartford."
